Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
As Senior Health and Safety Advisor you will deliver health and safety leadership by partnering with our stakeholders to provide knowledge, guidance and expertise to enable positive critical risk outcomes through the life cycle of capital and maintenance activities.
As an excellent networker, you will use your strong relationship management skills to collaborate effectively with our industry partners. You will provide advice, support and successfully influence health and safety performance to achieve high levels of capability and identify opportunities for improvement.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that no workers or others are harmed in Waka Kotahi worksites.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Knowledge and experience:
- Experience providing health and safety advice and guidance within a complex civil / infrastructure / construction environment
- Health and Safety audit, inspection and investigation experience
- Health and Safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice
- Be a Technician or Graduate Member of IOSH or NZISM
- Have (or be working towards) a recognised occupational health and safety qualification
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
