Principal Procurement Manager

The focus of System Design and Delivery is on designing and delivering an integrated transport system - one that reflects the plans and priorities of the Transport Agency and its partners. As part of this, Procurement plays an integral role to ensure value for money outcomes within the Transport Agency and across the broader transport industry.
The focus of this role is enterprise wide. You will lead a small team of ICT and generalist procurement professionals to deliver and meet organisational expectations around the procurement of operational goods and services (non-infrastructure) for the organisation.
This senior commercial role is entrusted with the identification, assessment and application of best practice procurement including new and innovative ways of doing business that lead to more effective and efficient outcomes. With an extensive knowledge of procurement practices, suppliers and markets you will assist in positioning the agency's procurement team as a client of choice, while also contributing to building the profession's body of knowledge.
Your strong relationship management skills will be essential in building and maintaining internal customer relationships to ensure the effective development and management of sourcing activities is achieved. In addition, you will need to work jointly with senior managers, teams and staff to ensure category strategies are aligned with, and deliver against, agency objectives.
To be successful in this role you will bring leadership, management and procurement experience that contributes to the ongoing development of professional capabilities throughout the NZ Transport Agency and its supply chain. You will be able to build on your existing relationships or develop new ones with other public sector agencies to help develop best practice procurement.
Your strong understanding of commercial practices will drive the development of best practice procurement outcomes and support the adoption of new methodologies and solutions that enhance the way we work with our suppliers.
What you will bring
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Minimum of ten years' procurement or commercial experience
- Experience working on projects and service delivery environments
- A detailed knowledge of Public Sector procurement
- Experience in continuous process improvement
- Experience in performance management and reporting
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- High level of commercial acumen
- MCIPS or Tertiary qualification in a related discipline or equivalent experience
