In our Strategy, Policy and Planning Group, our aim is to set the long-term direction of the land transport system and enable its achievement through collaborative planning and policy development, and then drive organisation-wide success through effective monitoring of delivery performance.
This Advisor role supports and works closely with Group Management Team members, Principal and Lead Advisors, the Ministerials team, and the Cross Government team to ensure we have an effective and efficient correspondence process that delivers for our customers. You will help manage and coordinate incoming ministerial correspondence and briefing requests. This is a great opportunity to gain an understanding of the wider Strategy, Planning and Policy Group, their functions and work programmes. You will team up with senior staff to assign tasks and then assist the team to manage tight deadlines and deliver high quality information for our customers and stakeholders. An ability to juggle and prioritise work, all while keeping a cool head and a calm manner under pressure, will be important in the role, as well as a good sense of humour. You will also get the opportunity to contribute to exciting transport policy and regulatory project work.
We are looking for a collaborative, people person with a can-do attitude who will enjoy building relationships with the rest of the team and our stakeholders to ensure our objectives are successfully met.
What you will bring
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- An understanding of the policy making process and NZ's regulatory framework
- Experience or understanding of the machinery of Government and the decision making process
- Experience in writing and coordinating ministerial or departmental or local government correspondence
- An understanding of the New Zealand transport system and its policy and regulatory framework would be beneficial
